For transit operators
A full family of mobl.city readers -- on-board terminals, station gates, and open-air posts -- all running the same fast, zone-aware fare engine. Bring contactless fares to your network without rebuilding it.
The hardware family
Each device speaks the same secure protocol to the mobl.city backend, so a rider's card and balance work identically whichever one they tap.
The validator riders tap when they board a bus, tram, or ferry. Contactless reader supporting DESFire EV2/EV3 cards and Android phone taps over the same path, GPS for zone context, and instant audible and visible confirmation.
Wall- or pedestal-mounted touchscreen for buying and reloading cards. Integrated EMV chip / contactless / magstripe payment hardware, multi-language UI, attended-operator sign-in, optional card dispenser and receipt printer, UPS ride-through, and tamper-aware enclosure for unattended placement.
Paddle gate for gated rail and metro stations. Reader on the gate top, green/red paddle feedback, and the same sub-second fare clearance as every other mobl.city device. Industrial design in progress.
Free-standing tap post for stops and platforms with no gates. Weather-sealed, lit, and marked, with the reader at an accessible height. Industrial design in progress.
Devices marked In design are on the mobl.city hardware roadmap -- talk to us about pilot timelines for your network.
AES-128 DESFire EV2/EV3 mutual authentication on every card, with a per-card key derived from a fleet master so a stolen card never compromises the fleet. A server-side rolling-nonce check blocks replay on every tap. Operator accounts require multi-factor authentication, and every change in the dashboard is written to a tamper-evident audit log. Terminals are offline-tolerant -- they keep working through a network drop and reconcile when connectivity returns.
Your network runs as its own tenant on the mobl.city cloud -- your fares, your zones, your currency, and your branding -- administered from a role-based web dashboard. For multi-network operators, riders in one tenant can ride in another with automatic daily-refreshed currency conversion; each tenant accrues settlement balances in its own currency for month-end payout.
Riders get a contactless card, an Android app with live balance, trip history, fares, a station map, and trip planning in transit mode, and self-service reload from the app, a kiosk, or a staffed counter. One account, one balance, however they pay.
Start with on-board terminals and kiosks today; add gates and open-air posts as they come off the design roadmap. One backend throughout.
